Stuck on a Crazy Cul-De-Sac
John: "Day one of Felicia and me knowing each other started downhill and only got worse."
Felicia: "I had hopes that this boy would be my best friend... by the end of the day, we were mortal enemies."
Ten-year-olds John and Felicia get off on the wrong foot the moment they meet each other, and their rivalry soon turns to an all-out war involving pranks, holding each other's possessions for ransom, and sabotage. But just because this mischief turns out to be way more fun than either of them imagined, it doesn't make them friends... right?
Tit for Tat
Ten year-old Maura has guts. Or as the new boy, Albert would say, very awful judgement. Not may girls would be willing to take on four bullies at once and would still manage to not throw up Sherwood Elementary’s disgusting school lunch in the aftermath while being dangled upside-down out a first story window.
Ten year-old Albert does not have guts. He was that kid who threw up his lunch as he watched Maura get hoisted out of the window. While Maura is fearless and ready to stand up to anybody for what she believes, Albert is perfectly content to remain quiet in the background…
At least, until a secret forces him to make the hard decision between standing up and shying back.
